Survivor Support | Hope In The Face Of A Cancer Diagnosis

December 29, 2020

Initially I was a little hesitant to talk to a complete stranger. Prior to my diagnosis in March 2020 I had never had any type of health problem, so talking about health issues was completely foreign to me. Brenda’s warm personality and people skills made me feel immediately at ease. She has a way of making you feel that she understands what you’re feeling.

She communicated with me before, during and after my bone marrow transplant. She has been able to offer words of wisdom, great suggestions, and a listening ear. This diagnosis has been one of the greatest challenges of my life. It has been really nice knowing that I have a warm person who understands when I just need someone to talk to.

I have a very loving family and support network, however having someone who’s “been there and done that” makes all the difference.“

This year with your support, we have trained 61 new support volunteers through our newly created Virtual Volunteer Training Program. Your generous gift will enable CanCare to train additional support volunteers, like Brenda, to serve more cancer patients and caregivers who need a survivor by their side in 2021.

Please don’t let 2020 close without making your special end of year gift to CanCare.
