Different Types of Breast Cancer
Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer affecting women in the United States, with 1 in 3 women receiving a diagnosis at some point in their life. With advancements in modern technology, we have been able to detect several subtypes of breast cancer, including:
- Inflammatory breast cancer
- Triple-negative breast cancer
- Triple positive breast cancer
- HER2+ breast cancer
- Ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) is one of the most common types of breast cancer. Classified as stage 0 breast cancer, DCIS is pre-invasive, meaning the cancer cells have yet to spread into other tissue.
- Metastatic breast cancer is another common type of breast cancer is Metastatic Breast Cancer, and unlike DCIS, it is classified as stage 4. Meaning the cancer has spread beyond the breast tissue and into other areas of the body.
Understanding these different types of breast cancer is crucial for personalized support and treatment plans.
